Made for Bedfordview's big stands and bigger windows.

From renovated double-storeys under the jacarandas to newer cluster builds near the Country Club — blinds, shading and awnings measured to the window, never to a catalogue.

Blockout roller blinds fitted to wide bedroom glazing, lowered against early evening light

Bedfordview reads like a park that houses moved into — jacaranda-lined streets, mature gardens and substantial double-storey homes on generous stands, sitting between Bedfordview Country Club and the Bedford Centre retail belt, with Eastgate and the Gillooly's interchange minutes away. Very few of these homes were built yesterday, and it shows in the windows: original openings from the mid-century sit alongside newer glass added in renovation after renovation. Standard sizes are the exception here, which is exactly why we measure every window rather than quote off a chart.

What the housing stock asks for

A renovated Bedfordview double-storey usually wants two things at once: proper blockout in the bedrooms, and something gentler where the proportions of the original windows deserve to be seen — a timber venetian in the study, a soft light-filtering roller in the lounge. The newer gated clusters ask a different question: sliding doors onto compact courtyards, where panel glides and day & night blinds earn their keep by working hard without crowding the room.

Gardens, trees and the western sun

Mature trees soften Bedfordview's light beautifully for most of the day — then the late afternoon sun drops below the canopy and lands hard in west-facing living rooms. Sunscreen roller fabrics are the honest fix: the glare and UV go, the garden view stays. And on entertaining patios, a fold-arm awning gives shade for the braai without a permanent roof darkening the room behind it.

Storm season is part of the spec

From October to April this belt gets its famous near-daily afternoon thunderstorms, often with real wind ahead of the rain. Any exterior product we fit in Bedfordview — awnings included — carries a wind sensor with auto-retract as standard, so it packs itself away before the gust front arrives, whether you're home or not.
